Eliminate Laminations
Laminations are
small areas of the cast surface that exhibit a blemish or expose porosity
when the casting is polished. The cause of these are usually related
to how the metal cools or the result of trapped gases near the surface.
Sometimes the way that metal flows into the die can affect how the die
fills.
MetaLL ife,
since it affects flow, helps the metal cool more evenly which eliminates the
tendency to have a blistered skin. Also the texturing of the surface
will break up any entrained trapped gases so that these can not be trapped
between the cast metal core and the surface of the casting.
