Better Paint Adhesion
Paint will adhere
better to a textured surface than a flat polished buffed surface. The
MetaLLife surface, because of the resultant micro texturing, causes paint to
adhere better. At the same time, especially in the case of a powder
paint finish, there is no evidence of the texture to the casting after the
paint is applied.
You can see this in
the photos below. The casting shown in the right sidebar is an "as
cast" condition and
exhibits the mirrored texture that would be evident on the treated
MetaLLife
die. The middle (green) casting in the top photo has a military "Olive Drab"
heavy paint finish.
The top (red) has a typical powder coat as you might find on a Toro mower
deck and is shown in larger form below. In both the green and red example, there is no
visible texture after painting.
